Notes for Clarence Reed

  • On the Copy of record for the birth of son Morton Holbrook and on the 1881 Canada Census (see below), Clarence's occupation is "plasterer".  
  • The "Admitted On Trial" Wesleyan Methodist Society card (pictured right) was issued in from Annapolis, Nova Scotia July 19th 1863 (he was 19 years old).
  • 1880 US census has Clarence, at the age of 36, living in Somerville, Middlesex, Massachusetts with his wife Emma age 30, son Edwin C. Reed age 2, son William G. Reed age 5 months and Grandmother Ruth Wade age 83.  It tells that Clarence's occupation is that of plasterer, his birthplace was Nova Scotia, his father's birthplace Massachusetts and his mother's birthplace, Nova Scotia.
  • Clarence became a Naturalized US citizen September 13, 1869
