  • John Foster was one of 13 principal settlers of the town of Marshfield. Records indicate he was from Plymouth and he was a blacksmith. 
  • John Foster was ordained deacon of the First Church, Marshfield, Massachusetts. 
  • At one time he was a Selectman of the town. 
  • He was on the jury that laid out the highways of the town in 1692. 
  • Listed in 1670 as one of the Freemen of the town. 
  • His headstone reads: Deacon John Foster deceased June the 13th 1732 in the 91 years of his age and left 7 living children, 45 grand children, 83 great grandchildren and had 26 grand children die before himself. 
  • His first wife was Mary Chillingworth, daughter of Thomas Chillingsworth.
